Wake the Tiger, Bristol
Sicolo Webb was appointed as project architect for Wake the Tiger, an immersive art experience brought to life by the visionary team behind Boomtown Fair. The project involved the significant refurbishment and extension of a former paint factory, transforming it into a dynamic space for large-scale installations and creative events.
We guided the clients through planning consent, technical design, and building regulations, ensuring that the ambitious vision could be realised safely and efficiently. The building was extended in multiple areas, including a new rooftop gallery constructed from cross-laminated timber, designed to support large-scale artworks and immersive installations. The project also includes tunnels to explore, slides to descend, and the front of a real train to climb aboard, creating a playful and unexpected environment for visitors.
Throughout the project, we worked closely with the creative team — including highly talented set designers and fabricators — helping artists translate their ideas into built form while maintaining the integrity of the architectural and structural framework. The result is a highly successful, flexible, and imaginative venue that supports experimentation, engagement, and large-scale immersive art experiences
